Use

Use the Related Formulas menu button described above to select the type of calculation to perform and select the value to calculate by tapping the box to its right.

When Equal Impedances is selected, write in the two unselected parameters:
  • dB: Decibels. The specific type of decibel value will depend on the Related Formulas setting selected
  • P1 or V1: Power (P1) or voltage (V1) in depending on the Related Formulas setting
  • P2 or V2: Power (P2) or voltage (V2) out depending on the Related Formulas setting

When Unequal Impedances is selected two additional fields will be available, Z1 and Z2, where you will need to enter the associated impedance values.

When the values are entered into both of the unselected fields tap the Calc button to display the calculated value.

(Hint: While it is probably a good practise to always make these your first steps when using this form, it can be done at any time - if you forget to select before entering values into the fields you won't have to clear the form and start all over. Electrist will recalculate using the existing values anytime you change the Display setting.)
