Use

The first and most important step in using the 3 Phase Load Balance Calculator is to select the transformer configuration by tapping the Transformer Type menu button and select either Delta or Wye.

The Total Units menu button can be used at any time to change the calculated display units at the bottom of the screen between Amps, Volt-Amps, and Watts.

To enter a load, tap the Add button. This will open the Load Editor where you will
  • Enter a name or designator for the load
  • Enter the load size - use the pop-up menu to select wether the load units are watts, kilowatts, volt-amps, or kVA
  • The next pop-up menu selects which phase legs the load is connected to. Ct1 and Ct2 designate either side of a centertap on phase winding C
  • Enter the load voltage Line Voltage, or the nominal voltage difference between two conductors that would be connected to the device
  • Enter the power factor While power factor is not required, it is necessary if the load units are either entered in a wattage or if you will want to view the calculated totals as such.
  • Tap the OK button to enter the load.

You can continue to enter more loads. With each added load the calculated totals at the bottom of the screen will update. To edit a load, to change the phases that it is connected to for instance, select the load in the list and tap the Edit button.
