Use

The Unknown Value Calculator can be of help in a number of circumstances. For instance determining the value of an obscured component in the types of circuits described above or determining the correct component to acheive a specified value.

Use the menus described above to select the type of circuit and select the value to calculate by tapping the box to its right.

(Hint: While it is probably a good practise to always make these your first steps when using this form, it can be done at any time - if you forget to select before entering values into the fields you won't have to clear the form and start all over. Electrist will recalculate using the existing values anytime you change the Display setting.)

   The three subscripted values:
  • x: The remaining value
  • a: The total value without regard to t
  • t: The total measured value

When the values are entered into both of the other fields tap the Calc button to display the calculated value.

(Hint: Remember that you can use the scale-lock buttons to force the capacitance value to display as microFarads.)
