Periodic Waves Calculator

Use

Calculating period and velocity using frequency and length Calculating frequency and velocity using period and length Calculating period and length using frequency and velocity Calculating frequency and length using period and velocity    The parameters:
  • T: Period (or duration) of one cycle
  • f: Frequency
  • L: Wavelength
  • V: Velocity (Speed of wave)

Use the boxes on the right-hand side to select 2 known values (Period and Frequency cannot BOTH be selected, as these are just reciprocals of each other and therefore cannot be used to calculate any other values.)

(Hint: While it is probably a good practise to always make these your first steps when using this form, it can be done at any time - if you forget to select before entering values into the fields you won't have to clear the form and start all over. Electrist will recalculate using the existing values anytime you change the Display setting.)

When the values are entered into the two checked fields tap the Calc button.

Units available for length: in, ft, yd, nm, um, mm, cm, m, km Units available for velocity: in/s, ft/s, nm/s, um/s, mm/s, cm/s, m/s, km/s    The wavelength (L) and Velocity (V) units can be adjusted at any time by using the pop-up menus to their right and the values will automatically update to reflect the change.
